Habits
Habits are the small things you want to do every day — drink water, stretch, read a chapter. Each habit has an emoji, a name, how many times a day you want to do it, and which days of the week it counts.
Using habits
Your habits appear as a row of emoji rings above the task list on the Day and Week views, and in the Review step of your evening ritual. Only habits scheduled for that day show up.
Tap a ring to log one step. The ring fills as you go, and turns solid with a check mark once you hit your goal. A habit you do once a day is a simple check-off. Tapped one too many times? Tapping a finished ring resets it to zero.
You can log today and catch up on the past 30 days. Future days are shown faded and can't be tapped yet.
Widgets
On iPhone and iPad, add the Habits widget to your home screen to see today's habits at a glance. Tap a ring to log a step without opening Dexter — it syncs to your other devices the next time you open the app.
Settings
Open Settings and choose Habits to manage your habits.
Turning habits on and off
- Enabled: Habit rings appear on your days, weeks, and rituals
- Disabled: Habits are hidden everywhere
Adding habits
Tap to create a habit. Pick an emoji, give it a name, set how many times per day you want to do it, and choose the days it's active.
Editing habits
Tap a habit to change it. New settings apply from today onward — past days keep the progress you logged.
Pausing habits
Use the pause button beside a habit to take a break from it. Paused habits disappear from your rings until you resume them.
Archiving habits
Open a habit and use Archive to retire it. Archiving hides the habit but keeps its history.
